Joseph O’Sickey PBS Documentary Screening at Judson Manor
March 1 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Joseph O’Sickey, Self Portrait Among Paints and Brushes, Watercolor & ink on paper, Collection of the AAWR
To accompany their satellite exhibition The Lens of Joseph O’Sickey at Judson Manor, the Artists Archives will host an in-person screening of the PBS Western Reserve documentary, Joseph O’Sickey: The Art of Life on Wednesday March 1st 4:00 – 5:00pm in Judson’s historic ballroom. 1890 E 107th St, Cleveland, OH 44106.
Produced by freelance journalist Sarah Taylor and Trina Cutter, the 45-minute film provides an in-depth view of the influential Ohio artist. As PBS describes, “In Joseph O’Sickey: The Art of Life, Taylor visits with the painter in his home to see him at work and to talk about his life as an artist. He discusses the evolution of his painting style, his devotion to the practice of sketching and his more than 60-year love affair with his late wife, Algesa. Living simply but appreciating the richness of his surroundings, O’Sickey shares how to revel in the art of life.”
The screening will feature an introduction by exhibition curator Kelly Pontoni and Artists Archives Executive Director Mindy Tousley. The film will be followed by an audience Q&A and guests are encouraged to explore O’Sickey’s work in the gallery after the event. The Lens of Joseph O’Sickey exhibition will be on view until April 1st, 2023. Thank you to PBS Western Reserve for making this program possible!
